Brian Ilfeld, M.D. Dr. Ilfeld completed medical school at the University of California at San Francisco, internship in OB/GYN at the University of California at Los Angeles, residency in Anesthesiology at the University of California at San Francisco, and a fellowship in regional anesthesia at the University of Florida under the mentorship of F. Kayser Enneking, MD. After joining the faculty of the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Ilfeld completed the Advanced Postgraduate Program for Clinical Investigation and earned his Masters Degree of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation (program supported by a K30 award from the NIH). His grant support exceeds $1.5 million, including a Mentored Research Training Grant from the Foundation of Anesthesia Education and Research and a Mentored Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health (K23-GM077026). Dr. Ilfeld is the primary investigator on 27 peer-reviewed publications, 12 of which were randomized clinical trials. Dr. Ilfeld conceived of the PAINfRE group, assembled the investigators and support staff, and initiated the first multicenter study in 2005. His primary research interests involve perineural local anesthetic infusion or continuous peripheral nerve blocks and their application in the ambulatory environment.
